Thanksgiving – Including Our Earth-Home in Our Celebrations

Thursday, November 24, 2016

leaf under water_1926Tis the season of Thanksgiving!  Thanks-Giving

In these tumultuous times, we take a moment to STOP, breathe… come together with family, friends, neighbors…and remember the Earth supporting us all.

Now more than ever, we feel called to connect and express our heart-ful thanks for our incredible Earth-home.

Let’s widen the circle of gratitude…and help make it *normal* in our busy, troubled culture to live in kinship with the Living World.

Vision: More and more people honoring the natural world in their Thanksgiving celebrations.

Some specific ideas:

  • Plan the feast: Consider the impacts of your feast choices as you make plans (local organic food, share transportation, cloth napkins, no plastic, etc.)
  • Go outdoors: Connect with the natural world and your gratitude before the feast — a walk, a meditation, a ceremony or just a moment to look up at the sky and breathe — solo or with family, friends, neighbors.
  • Host a gathering: Lead a gratitude ritual, meditation, movement medicine, etc.
  • Speak up: Share your gratitude for Land in your feast-table blessing and/or conversations.
  • Enjoy Friday outside: Celebrate GreenFriday as a Bonus Day to “OptOutside” and enjoy Nature wherever you are… and deepen your gratitude.
  • Or whatever you’re inspired to do!

garden-harvest-3AND you can share your Earth-love in your community to help make it normal to honor Creation on Thanksgiving Day.

Consider sharing through:

  • Social media – Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, etc.
  • Blog
  • eNewsletter
  • In-class announcements
  • Conversations
